"Give whatever you are doing and whoever you are with
the gift of your attention." ~Jim Rohn~
When we are in the company of another human being, it is not only to their benefit to give them our undistracted attention, but to our benefit as well. The person you are interacting with is an aspect of the One Being that we all are. They are you. You are they. Every interaction enlightens us. These interactions may also serve as a profound opportunity to help the other.
During conversations with others, we become aware of attributes they are expressing as well as struggles that they may be going through. Our full attention to people gives us the opportunity to absorb their attributes through our appreciation of them. If we become aware of their struggles, we now have the ability to imagine them in a situation that they would rather be in.
“Real generosity is doing something nice for someone
who will never find out.” ~Frank A. Clark~
The quote above always meant to me to do a physical action for someone or donate money to someone. Although those are definitely expressions of generosity, I have come to learn that the highest form of generosity is to imagine your fellow man in a higher place than the one they are struggling in. 0ur unadulterated, sincere imagining of an experience that another desires is the ultimate gift (unadulterated being the operative word). They may never know when they stand in their desired experience that you ever had a hand in it, but the building of the awareness of our power over our world is an even greater gift to us.
