Quotes of the day... 6/13/14

We, in our daily lives, have the opportunity to contribute to the continuation of fear and violence, or the healing of it. Our daily thoughts, feelings, and words, used against each other, no matter how small we think they are, contribute.

Observe your reactions to others. Commit to healing the energy of separation in your daily interactions. We all equally carry the responsibility of peace.

"Peace between countries must rest on
the solid foundation of love between individuals."

Courage doesn't always roar.

I will try again tomorrow.

At The Foot Of The Feisty... ~ Stephen Russell, The Barefoot Doctor

"Ask any ancient Taoist sage versed in the art of 'wu wei' magic about the best way to attain to life's blessings and they'll tell at once it all boils down to relinquishing the drive to achieve and in its place insert the grace to receive. It's based on the same premise that to be somebody become nobody. And it runs totally counter to the greedy, grasping, go-get-it, make-it-happen, I-can-do-it, rah-rah way we've been increasingly trained to approach things.

Obviously you have to focus on what you're aiming at and draw yourself into a state of unity to clarify and declare your intention to the Tao (to the deepest level of selfhood), but then you have to exercise the immense courage requisite to enter a state of grace and surrender.

Naturally your ambition-permeated rational mind will throw up all sorts of objections and do its best to convince you you're being daft and the discipline is to override that as best you can at every turn. You also have to stay mindful of the inevitable permutations of the yin-yang (contract-expand) cycle underpinning all phenomena.

And if you manage it, if you can sit back in your inner throne like the king or queen of no-matter-what and let life come to you, and maintain your equilibrium and a steady nerve, it tends to produce startling results."

Quotes of the day... 6/9/14

“...most of the time, all you have is the moment,
and the imperfect love of the people around you.”

     ~ Anne Lamott

You are the sum total of everything you’ve ever
seen, heard, eaten, smelled, been told, forgot
 - it’s all there. Everything influences each of us,
and because of that I try to make sure
that my experiences are positive.
     ~ Maya Angelou

When you get to a place where you're
seeing the positive in others more than the negative,
it means you're doing the same for yourself.
       ~ Mike Dooley
