Built-In Redundancy

You can knock and it will be opened.
Seek and it will be found.
Ask and it will be answered.

But you can also just say "thanks" in advance.

And believing you'll see that which
you stood in need of was there all along.

The way of the warrior...

A warrior…
is as wise as a serpent and as innocent as a dove

knows his own faults, but also knows his qualities

knows that the fool who criticizes
            someone else’s garden
is not tending his own plants

                       ~ (adapted) Paulo Coelho

♪ Cause if you've gots the poison, I've gots the remedy ♪

“There's only one real antidote to so many people in the world being cruel or unkind to each other, and that's to be kind to everyone you transact with in any way, for however long or short a time, even say in just passing a stranger in the street with a warm smile of acknowledgement to a fellow human. This spreads like a contagion just as much as the opposite and heals everything in its path, just as its opposite destroys. And you can only start being kinder to others when you've first learned to be kinder to yourself – to stop running interference on yourself and let yourself be the truly magnificent shining soul you are and came here to be."

And though time is but relative as any old Einstein will tell you, and that the moment is infinite in duration… we should apply our remedy now."

What you focus on grows so

and see what happens.

"Simple Health Tip That Very Few People Follow" ~ Dr. Ben Kim

"From time to time, I have health practitioners call me to discuss patient care, and I have to say that there are instances where I want to ask when they lost sight of the big picture.

I'm all for evaluating each situation thoroughly, ordering tests that are absolutely necessary to determine root causes of illness, and even using conventional medical care where I feel that they are more effective than natural therapies and where other (side) effects don't lead to bigger problems.

But ultimately, I've come to believe that the body is well equipped to heal itself when the following conditions are present:

1.  Adequate nourishment with nutrient-dense foods.

2.  Optimal vitamin D status.

3.  Emotional well-being (tied to what we are doing with our lives and the quality of our closest relationships).

4.  Healthy physical activity (activities that we can do to promote strength, balance, and perspiration while avoiding injury).

5.  Enough rest.

On a number of occasions over the years, I've had conversations with oncologists who wanted to educate me on the differences between various options within their cabinets of chemotherapy protocols, and when I've brought up what we should be thinking about with rest and nutrition, in most cases, I've encountered an air of, "are you serious?"

This feeling of "the more complicated the better" exists with almost every medical specialty.  I guess health care has just evolved to become what it is, where drugs and procedures are paid for by insurance premiums, and the more complicated the health issue and treatment plan are perceived to be, the greater the fees.

No matter what chronic health issue I encounter, I always emphasize taking care of the five points listed above before doing anything else.  The idea is to give the body its best possible chance to do what it is designed to do, which is to heal itself and stay functioning.  And if adequate healing doesn't occur with these efforts, then let's look at what additional measures can do to facilitate restoration of health.

So here's one simple tip that in my experience, very few people follow to support their health:

Don't eat after dinner.  Enjoy your dinner, including a healthy dessert.  Then let your digestive tract begin a period of rest that goes right until you eat breakfast.

A lot of people underestimate how much energy the body uses up when it has to digest food.  If you eat right up until or close to bedtime, your body has to continue to expend resources dealing with food, and your sleep will likely be disrupted by extra trips to the bathroom.

The deeper your sleep and the less it is interrupted, the greater your body's production of hormones that heal and restore damaged cells, the key hormones being growth hormone, testosterone (even in women), and erythropoietin, which largely determines how much oxygen your cells have access to.

Following this tip to do away with snacking after dinner and before bed invariably leads to improved overall health and greater energy throughout the day.  Every aspect of our health is closely tied to the quality of sleep we experience, which is why this tip is so powerful in transforming health.

About a week and a half ago, I heard back from a lady in Missouri who had experienced irritable bowel syndrome for more than a decade despite being extremely strict in following a nutrient-rich, plant-centered diet.  She first contacted me in the summer of 2013, and after reviewing all of her charts, I asked her to try following the tip described above.  The only major problem that stood out with her daily choices was the amount of food she was eating right up until bedtime and the number of times she had to go to the bathroom at night.  As you might guess, doing away with food and drinks after dinner led to a complete reversal with her digestive health, and she noted a number of other benefits, including more energy and melting away of her "muffin top."

If you're experiencing any health issues and you're snacking away after dinner, I hope that you give this tip a try.  It's so simple that no one can charge you or your insurance company for it.  But powerful are its effects."

Moon Mind - Tuesday, July 1, 2014 ~ Swati Jyotish

Tuesday, July 1st

Moon moves to Leo and into Magha nakshatra at 4:18 am CDT. Pitr and Ketu enliven at this time and bring about a day of change and transformation.

Mercury goes direct at 7:46 am CDT. We may wake up feeling ready to take forward action- at least mentally. Clean up phase is complete for this round of Mercury retrograde and the mind starts thinking in a more linear way now. This may bring greater clarity to our life process and allow us to think more clearly about progress rather than all the steps we are retracing. Sometimes this can help us see where we need to get clearer and more focused with our personal agendas. However, Mercury is at the very edge of its own sign, Gemini, right now. We get the taste of mind in a harmonious sign, yet "weak" and in the gap simultaneously. This may make the clarity we get be very subtle and intuitive instead so listen up for the gentle messages that come. If you miss them, don't worry, they will get much louder in the coming weeks. But try to catch the memos before they start shouting...

Today has a quick, fast and fierce kind of feel to it. Overwhelm or calamity may set in as a result. Make sure you are taking time to breathe and attend to your physical needs as our overdrive mechanisms might be kicking up. Anger and outbursts, eruptions and tantrums, are likely inside and out so listen carefully to the underlying messages. What is the need that is not being attended to? What are the changes in you that must be made to create less friction? Action abounds right now with the planets. Let this influence you and your awareness about change and transformation.

For the one who has conquered the mind,
the mind is the best of friends;
but for one who has failed to do so,
his very mind will be his greatest enemy.
     ~ Bhagavad-gita 6.6 Srila Prabhubada

All civilization in a sense exists only in the mind.
Gunpowder, textile arts, machinery, laws, telephones
are not themselves transmitted from man to man
or from generation to generation,
at least not permanently. It is the perception,
the knowledge and understanding of them
that are passed along. Everything social
can have existence only through mentality."

Monday, June 30, 2014 Moon Mind ~ Swati Jyotish

"Moon transits its own sign of Cancer with exalted Jupiter. Both receive gaze from a compromised Saturn. Moon moves into Ashlesha nakshatra at 1:18 am CDT. Sarpa and Mercury rule this nakshatra and activate themes of deception, illusion and overconfidence as serpent energy is apt to do. Sarpa is a small snake and connected to the north node, Rahu as a result of his serpent energy indicates. There is also a connection to wisdom (of the occult variety) and mysticism through Sarpa which can bring awakenings. Snakes medicine is all about transformation and regeneration.

Today can offer a spectrum of possibilities from inner transformation and awakening to worldly advancement and changes. There may be illusions or delusions working their charms on us, so be mindful of what you are feeding your serpent self; your cravings and desires. Mental body will be trying to run the show today and spinning his usual stories of mayhem on auto pilot. Use this to inform your process, but don't let it run the show and drag you through the mud. Do a three level check in to see where you are in mind, body and emotions. Then take it into a poem or song. Let your words work some magic on you."

Quotes of the day... 6/30/14

Our nourishment and sense of nourishment
is directly connected to how able we are to receive.
This is a vulnerable position, unlike the position of giving,
which is the power position.

Today, think in terms of balancing
both the give and receive and notice
how vital they are to each other. They are truly
interrelated functions required for getting
our needs met from life, relationships
and our environment.

Using the metaphor of inhale and exhale,
the dance of the life force can be
a potent tool of awareness.
