"Ok, now I'm nervous."

She wasn't nervous about tomorrow. But then it was time to go to bed and she started getting nervous about tomorrow. I said, "There's nothing to be nervous about. Life only asks you to show up. If you stay out of life's way, it always works out. If this isn't it, it will be something else. There is always something else, if we don't get in the way. We just walk. We don't attach. We just trust. Life has our back." And she smiled and went to bed.

“Man is more himself, more manlike,
when joy is the fundamental thing
and grief superficial.”

can only be yours if you follow
your own intuition aiming to achieve your bliss.”

A change of heart...

"... In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., "We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one, affects all indirectly." That understanding is not metaphor or symbol; it's a description of an ultimate Reality shoved from our awareness by an obsolete scientific worldview. To reclaim that understanding is not blind but visionary. King was not just a movement leader but also a spiritual one, proclaiming that the human condition would not fundamentally change until our hearts were changed. Until that change occurs within us, every time we cut off the head of a monster three more will take its place.

Anything we do to anyone else will ultimately come back at us, whether as individuals or as nations. Once we know that, we cannot un-know it. It changes everything, including our hearts. How can we not change how we see each other, once we realize that we are each other?"

Symptoms of Enlightenment

"According to Vedanta,
there are only two symptoms of enlightenment,
just two indications that a transformation
is taking place within you
toward a higher consciousness.

The first symptom is that you stop worrying.
Things don't bother you anymore.
You become light-hearted and full of joy.

The second symptom is that you encounter
more and more meaningful coincidences in your life,
more and more synchronicities.

And this accelerates to the point
where you actually experience the miraculous."

~ Deepak Chopra

Quotes of the day... 7/10/14

The secret to life is to put yourself in the right lighting.
For some, it's a Broadway spotlight;
for others, a lamplit desk. Use your natural powers --
of persistence, concentration, and insight.
Solve problems. make art, think deeply.
     ~ Susan Cain

True discipline is really just self-remembering;
no forcing or fighting is necessary.
     ~ Charles Eisenstein

That which is impenetrable to us really exists.
Behind the secrets of nature remains
something subtle, intangible, and inexplicable.
Veneration for this force beyond anything
that we can comprehend is my religion.
     ~ Albert Einstein

Quotes of the day... 7/9/14

It is wonderful how much time
good people spend fighting the devil.
If they would only expend the same
amount of energy loving their fellow men,
the devil would die in his own tracks of ennui.
     ~ Helen Keller

Tolerance and compassion
are qualities of fearless people.
     ~ Paulo Coelho

A loving person lives in a loving world.
A hostile person lives in a hostile world;
everyone you meet is your mirror.

Nurture your mind with great thoughts,
for you will never go any higher than you think.

What are you hoping to do today?
What are you hoping to be?
Your answer to this question
will create not just the day, but you.

I remind myself every morning:
Nothing I say this day will teach me anything.
So if I'm going to learn, I must do it by listening.
     ~Leo Buscaglia

A good listener is not only popular everywhere,
but after a while he knows something.
     ~Wilson Mizner

Too much of our daily life tends to lack
the intimacy of empathic communication,
so when we do experience it, it's very life-affirming.
     ~ Peter Shepherd
