The Dalai Lama’s comment on the Terrorist Attacks is making waves internationally—even in mainstream media. It’s the very top post on Reddit. ~ Waylon Lewis, Elephant Journal

Dalai Lama: ‘Humans Have Created This Problem’ and Must Solve ~ excerpted, adapted ~ Ken Meyers

In the wake of the attacks that devastated Paris, the Dalai Lama followed Pope Francis to become the second spiritual world leader to offer sympathies to the people of France. The Buddhist leader denounced the violence as the short-sighted actions of out-of-control people...

(Change requires) real, humanistic actions made in the name of peace. “We have to begin the change at individual level and then move on to neighborhood and society.”

The Dalai Lama’s comments came during an interview with Deutsche Welle, in which he mused that the terror attacks were the result of “superficial differences” between faiths and nationalities, and that humans must actively work to address the problems they created.

"We need a systematic approach to foster humanistic values, of oneness and harmony. If we start doing it now, there is hope that this century will be different from the previous one. It is in everybody’s interest. So let us work for peace within our families and society..."

Quotes of the day... 7/14/16

“WAR is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.”  ~ Smedley D. Butler, War is a Racket: The Antiwar Classic by America's Most Decorated Soldier

“I spent thirty-three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country's most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street, and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.”  ~ Smedley D. Butler, War is a Racket: The Antiwar Classic by America's Most Decorated Soldier

Everyone has a story.

Quotes of the day... 7/12/16

“Things outside you are projections of what's inside you,
and what's inside you is a projection of what's outside.
So when you step into the labyrinth outside you,
at the same time you're stepping into the labyrinth inside.”

Monday Motivation

The amount of effort we put into things normally yields
an equal amount of appreciation and love for it.
Our confidence, self-respect, and interest in life dwindles when things are handed to us. We are programmed for adventure.
If we don't match the energy, whether through mind power
or physical power, it is unlikely we'll have the energy to enjoy it. Lets, everyday, get out there and live.

Quotes of the day... 7/11/16

“I have no right to say or do anything
that diminishes a man in his own eyes.
What matters is not what I think of him
but what he thinks of himself.
Hurting a man in his dignity is a crime.”
     ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

“He who is different from me
does not impoverish me - he enriches me.
Our unity is constituted
in something higher than ourselves...”
     ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Mental and moral excellence
require peace and quietness.
     ~ Publius Cornelius Tacitus
