Morning Quote

Pope Francis has posted a sign on the door of his residence at Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican warning complainers to cut it out and get busy making things better:

… the sign, written in Italian, warns that people who violate the “no whining” policy are “subject to a syndrome of always feeling like a victim and the consequent reduction of your sense of humor and capacity to solve problems.”

It also says the penalty is double for people who gripe in the presence of children.

The Magic of Nature

A monarch butterfly getting it's nutrients from my
freshly bloomed daisies right before
the thunderstorm, torrential rain, and winds, yesterday...

Monarch butterflies are known for the incredible mass migration that brings millions of them to California and Mexico each winter.
North American monarchs are the only butterflies that make such a massive journey—up to 3,000 miles. The insects must begin this journey each fall ahead of cold weather, which will kill them if they tarry too long.
Life Cycle
Monarch butterflies begin life as eggs and hatch as larvae that eat their eggshells and, subsequently, the milkweed plants on which they were placed. (Monarchs are dependent on milkweed plants, which larvae eat nearly exclusively.)

Morning Quotes 6/23/17

Truth has power. As we begin to gravitate
toward similar ideas, maybe we do so
because those ideas are true...
written deep within us.
And when we hear the truth,
even if we don't understand it,
we feel that truth resonate within us...
vibrating with our unconscious wisdom.
Perhaps the truth is not learned by us,
but rather, the truth is re-called... re-membered...
re-cognized... as that which is already inside us.

Trees are Sanctuaries.

"Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life...

So the tree rustles in the evening, when we stand uneasy before our own childish thoughts: Trees have long thoughts, long-breathing and restful...

They are wiser than we are, as long as we do not listen to them. But when we have learned how to listen to trees, then the brevity and the quickness and the childlike hastiness of our thoughts achieve an incomparable joy.

Whoever has learned how to listen to trees no longer wants to be a tree. He wants to be nothing except what he is.
That is home. That is happiness.”

― Hermann Hesse -
